Hi!

I just want to know, how is it like working for Summit Media?

Based on the job openings that you have listed, I am interested in applying for the executive assistant post.

Can you somehow give me an idea on what to expect in terms of working environment, load, compensation and other benefits/perks?

And can you also tell me more about being an EA in the Mobile Division and Live?

Thanks for your time, I'd really appreciate it :)

simplysarah... sa pagkakaalam ko, tumatanggap pa rin ang summit media ng mga mago-OJT, although hindi ko alam kung ito ay kasama sa regular policy ng kumpanya. Dahil depende talaga sa requirement ng individual departments. It's best for you to send an inquiry through the email addresses I posted, or you can call 4518888 (connect to the HR department). Good luck!

Anonymous... Summit Media is like any other company. There are those who love it here (a number of employees resign but eventually go back), and there are those who feel that Summit isn't the right "fit" for them. I've been in Summit for over four and a half years, the longest time I've ever stayed in a company. In short, Summit is a great fit for me.

I'm honestly not very familiar with Summit's Mobile Division (development of mobile content) or Summit Live (organizing live events). But an executive assistant post, in the most general terms, is simply being an "assistant to an executive." In major corporations, that translates to being a secretary to a high-ranking officer. This involves fielding calls, charting appointments, composing correspondence, coordination, and related tasks.

Again, since I'm not familiar with the two business units, my definition may not be in synch with theirs. Ditto with the workload.

Summit's employee base is mostly about late-20s to mid-30s in age, so you're looking at a younger mindset. I can't answer the compensation question, though, because I don't know what the job rank is.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply.

Btw, is the Mobile Division same as their Out-of-Home Division that I saw in their website?

But when you were there, what do the executive assistants of other divisions do? I had been an EA before but in another industry, so I would like to have an idea sana on how is it like being an EA in a company like Summit.

Also, I read in some thread that Summit's pay is relatively low, is this true?

Sorry for being kulit or something :) I'm just really interested and clueless at the same time.

But really, thanks for your response :)

Anonymous... I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I really don't know anything about the operations of the Mobile Content Division and Summit Live. They're relatively young business units.

I work in the Editorial Department and I know of only one executive assistant here (I may be wrong), who functions as a secretary, doing what secretaries do. But Summit is a non-traditional company, so the atmosphere is not as stiff as traditional corporations. (I've worked in two traditional corporations, and the difference is marked.)

And since I don't know the job level of executive assistants, I can't tell how competitive the salary is. Once you apply and manage to reach the final interview, you can ask and then decide if Summit is a good fit for you.

Good luck!

Good day, Sir!

I am interested in applying for an editorial assistant position, but just recently, I just started working in a company.

Will Summit find it off or detrimental to my credentials if I decided to leave the company I am currently in so I can work with another company where I believe I can function better and more competitively?

Thank you!

Great blog you got here. I'd like to read more about that matter. Thank you for sharing this information.

Masid... I suggest you apply, but you should have a very compelling reason for wanting to leave your current employment in case you get asked. Plus, there is still the chance you won't get accepted, so staying in your current job is still the most practical thing to do.

What they say is true: always have a backup.

Will Summit find it off? I honestly don't know. During the course of your application, you may be interviewed by different people who have varying takes on the matter.

But one thing's sure: it takes time to train an editorial assistant. So Summit is looking for people who are not only effective, patient, and flexible, but who can stay for the long hard haul. You have to prove that you're the perfect candidate.

Good luck!

Thank you very much for the response, sir!

Yes, I am well aware of what the job entails, the dynamics and virtually all that I am looking for in a job that will make me stay. So I'll give it a shot and keep my current job while awaiting for Summit's verdict. :)
