Unfortunately, for the Graphic Novelist...

I've been exhausted these past few days, so I don't have any new pages to show. I will be posting more pages, that's certain, perhaps in two to three weeks as I get my system back in check. But thanks for dropping by and offering words of encouragement, support and enthusiasm. (And for coming to my defense, bless you.)

The toughest part of this little crusade of churning out new Pinoy comics is having to deal with limited time and endurance. I admire those creators who choose to make comics full time, moreso those who have families to support. I have said before that making Pinoy comics could be a lucrative venture, but the operative word is "could." It takes a special creature to be able to do this. But as of now, I'm not one of them. I'm still held fast by the fear of a diminished bank account.

I also envy those who are content with doing either writing or drawing. The writers don't have to worry much about how the pages are going to turn out in the hands of an artist they trust, and the artists don't have to suffer headaches over the intricacies of plot, character development, continuity, and narrative logic. But for me, and those like me, the experience of doing both can be a lonely and frustrating experience.

But this is what I chose to do. I don't know if it's foolish of me to wish that more would choose this same path. It's one of the most impractical ventures ever created, and it will be a while before the graphic novel form gets its just rewards, at least in the commercial sense.

Still, I find comfort in knowing that I am one among a few. A special few. Parang special child.

Absolutely correct po kayo.
Before I have published my own comics(which I also write and draw), akala ko ganun ganun lang ang pagiging writer. Ang hirap rin pala... specially when creating a script from a simple plot and dividing them into a specific number of pages.
I have now much much respect to writers..
And more to those who write and illustrate their own stories like you...

Sir Carver, xiaobucks has something to say...

Napaka generous niyo naman po sir. Kunsabagay, alam niyo po ba na bago ko mabili ang first copy ko ng Zsa Zsa (and my only copy as of now) eh nabasa ko na po 'yung kalahati.

God bless po and more power to you and Zsa Zsa ever...

It is a calling we cannot deny. Tingnan mo ako sulat ng sulat ng entries pero frustrated writer pa rin. Hehe.

gio... naku, kelangan nang gawan ng rebulto ang mga tulad natin. Hihihihi. :-)

xiaobucks... I'm sure mabibighani ako sa itsura ng oldest university in Asia. (Tama ba ako?) Curious ako sa library ng UST. I'm sure marami ring inspiration ang mapupulot doon.

mugen... at kamusta ang topless picture? :-) At bakit ka frustrated? :-( Ang dami-dami mo na ngang nasusulat, frustrated pa ba 'yun?

And those of us who have been entertained by your work are so grateful that you have made that choice. (Sorry for barging in on your site like this but I couldn't help it. I'm a fan.=) Not a stalker though, so don't worry. I hope to meet you on the 12th at the FlipsFlippingPages discussion.)
