Thrilling

By now you may have seen those inmates from the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center displaying their terpsichorean skills with their rendition of Michael Jackson's Thriller. But if you haven't seen them do other stuff yet, you can go here. They've got Queen's Radio Gaga, I Will Follow Him (from Sister Act), and Maskulado's Jumbo Hotdog. Still, the routine that brought them worldwide attention is the best of the lot.

I bet that some Hollywood producers are already mulling over a feel-good feature based on this. With the success of Prison Break, why not make some counterprogramming cash with a dancing inmates drama-comedy? It's got Adam Sandler written all over it. Or better yet, give it to the Brits, who can throw some grit and realism into the mix.

Tonight, Cinemalaya will be showing Joey Gosiengfiao's camp classic Temptation Island at the SM Megamall theater. I'd like to watch it, but I'm sure it'll be filled up before you could say, "Everyone needs a shipwreck." But I'm so looking forward to the restaging of the play based on this, adapted by Chris Martinez. I don't know when it's going to be, but most of the original cast will be there, including John Lapus, Tuxqs Rutaquio, and Peter Serrano.

I just woke up -- 3:30pm -- which means more than half a day flew by without me accomplishing much, which in a way is a good thing. When I get home from the dayjob, I'd be working on another project, so being lazy on a Saturday is a blessing as long as it doesn't nudge my conscience. I should eat something, then head off to the grocery store and get fruits and a few staples, and cap everything with a haircut. My body is almost done with its two-week break from gym, so next week'll be the start of a new run.

Over the next three months, I'll be heavy into my next Graphic Classics assignment, a morality tale set in 16th- or 17th-century Germany, though the need for visual references isn't as heavy as my last assignment.

By late-December, I wanna go back to Boracay. Crossing my fingers on that one.

your concept of the "inmates movie" put images on my head; like, yea, it'd work. I go for Adam Sandler more than the Brits though. Jewish prisoner dancing to thriller? ..Wacky.
