I went to a screening of MMFF trailers at one of the Robinsons Galleria movie theaters, by Regal's invitation. The films were Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo, Mamatay ka sa Karma, Tatlong Baraha, Zsazsa Zaturnnah: Ze Moveeh, and Super Noypi. Enteng Kabisote 3 was also part of the list, though the preview was more of a teaser than anything else.

Of all the trailers, Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo had the best pacing and a more solid structure, pretty easy considering we've done romantic comedies, like, forever. The rest tended to drag a bit, especially Mamatay ka sa Karma which, by its genre alone, deserved a more urgent treatment. The preview for Tatlong Baraha had "audacity" written all over it--it's a must-see in a wicked sort of way. Super Noypi tended to be a bit repetitive--seeing Monsour del Rosario and his electric bolts over and over dampened its novelty, and electric bolts to begin with aren't so novel in the special effects department anymore. I was told that Noypi director Quark Henares wanted to give his film a darker edge; now that's something to look forward to.

The Zaturnnah trailer was a lengthy, colorful monster. It didn't tell the whole story, thank goodness, but it showed a whole lot. It focused more on the kinetic scenes, so Rustom Padilla and Alfred Vargas figured in quite rarely. The trailer's not perfect, but it was fun in the Regal sort of way, with enough bits to turn curiousity into interest. And the frog was cute.

Since Galleria already has copies of the trailers, expect to see them beginning this week.

Just want to share with you, Carl:

WE’RE happy that Zsazsa Zaturnnah creator Carlo Vergara is happy with the movie’s trailer.

Hindi nakarating si Carlo sa first general press con ng Zsazsa Zaturnnah Ze Moveeh dahil office worker siya and the press con was held ng tanghali. Gayunpaman, he was also invited pala sa special theater preview ng mga Regal Films trailer na ginanap noong gabi rin na yun sa Robinson’s Galeria which he was able to attend at kami naman ang hindi dahil naipit kami in an earlier commitment.

He reported his approval sa kanyang blog site The Carver House that night din. One of the recipients of the biggest number of hits ang blog site niya which we also subscribed too, being a fan of his and his comic character.

Appreciative si Carlo na hindi ikinuwento ang buong story sa trailer ng Zsazsa para mas intriguing. Na cute-an din siya sa frog na personally kami rin. Last Monday morning lang talaga natapos nina Dave Hukom ang trailer so mainit-init pa itong ipinalabas during the general press con at happy naman ang lahat.

Natuwa rin kami na pinalakpakan ang movie base pa lang sa trailer.
