Have we plutoed Filipino?

Last January 5, the American Dialect Society (ADS) voted "plutoed" as the word of the year. To pluto means to demote or devalue someone or something, as was experienced by the former planet Pluto when it was reclassified as a "dwarf planet" in August.

The full list of nominations can be found here. Other words nominated by the members of the group included:
lancing - the forced public outing of a closeted gay celebrity;
lactard - a person suffering from lactose intolerance; and
flog - an advertising site disguised as a blog.

Last year, the ADS (which was founded in 1889) voted "truthiness" for 2005. For the year before that, it was "red state, blue state, purple state". Other past winners are commonly used today: metrosexual, weapons of mass destruction, and "not!" (the expression).

I entered UP Colleg of Social Science and Philosophy-- in Filipino--

now-- Kolehiyo ng Sosyal Sayans at Pilosopia

ay, kainis! why fix it if it ain't broke? I never knew there was the word 'dalubhasaan.' Sounds way neat. They should have stuck to it (even "agham panlipunan"), and leave "kolehiyo" and the dreadful "sosyal sayans" as synonyms/alternatives.

ang weird nga eh... although it became interesting nung nag-offer ang Kolehiyo ng Agham (i wonder why agham was retained here)ng pisika (physics)-- and translated terms to tagalog like--

speed-- tulin
velocity-- bilis

Personally, I don't mind if 'ispid' and 'belosidad' were used. The more alternatives the better, para colorful! :-)

Ay naku, parang iyong mga naririnig mo sa mga tagapagbalita (newscaster for you) na hindi naman kasali sa wikang Filipino:

- Kapulisan
- Kakalsadahan
- Katrapikan
- Katatayuan

Ang mga tamang salita, sa aking palagay:
- Mga pulis
- Mga kalsada
- Trapik
- Katayuan

rocky! :-) "kakalsadahan"? may sariling dayalek?

I think you guys are floccinaucinihilipilificating the Filipino language.

Dayalek, indeed, Carl! Oh, one more word that irks me:

KALALAGAYAN

Exponential notation of Filipino words. Ek!

I wonder if there's a site where the latest gayspeak words are stored. Curious.

Can you even consider Filipino a real language?
